Bags of Help

We are delighted to announce that together, Sun Hill Infant and Junior Schools have been awarded a minimum of £8,000 to spend on improvements to the school grounds. Before Christmas we applied to the Groundwork Trust / Tesco Bags of Help scheme and earlier this month we heard that we had been shortlisted to the final three projects. There are three grants available - £8,000, £10,000 and £12,000 and the level of award we get will be determined by customer votes in the Winchester Tesco Extra. The grants have been funded by the 5p plastic bag charge and have to be spent on environmental projects, so we are planning to spend ours on shelters and seating for children, bug hotels and a motion activated webcam, solar panels for the greenhouse to heat and irrigate it, new seating areas for Junior classes to use for learning outdoors, storage units, and improving access for wheel users to the playing field. We need you! Voting at Tesco Extra begins this Saturday and runs until Sunday 6th March. Every time you shop at Big Tesco, you'll get a token to place in `our' voting bin - the grants will be awarded according to project popularity, so even if you're not usually a Tesco shopper, or don't go into Winchester often, please can we ask you to make at least one special journey next week? You can vote every time you shop - and please do let friends and family know that they can support us at Tesco too. Thank you!
