British Values

SMSC at Sun Hill Infant School

Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural (SMSC) development supports Sun Hill Infant’s Mission Statement of developing the whole child. It encourages creativity, enquiry, independence, responsibility and self-awareness which prepares children for their future to become respectful individuals, life-long learners and active citizens in society.

British Values at Sun Hill Infant School

In 2011, the government defined British Values as:

democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.

We promote these values through our mission statement, school vision, curriculum and enrichment activities which supports our commitment to developing the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness. Our commitment to promoting British values is constantly evolving and changing as a reflection of the children within our school.

Please look at the attached documents to find out how we promote and support the children's Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development as well as their understanding of British Values.
