Spring One Week Three

Hi Year Two,

It has been so lovely to see you during our lives lesson this week! We were a bit nervous about teaching over Zoom but seeing your smiling faces made such a difference. Thank you for working so hard and for joining in with all the activities. We hope you enjoyed the live lessons...we have lots more planned for this week and hopefully we are going to keep moving along the learning line to be the best online teachers we can be for you.

Thank you also for sharing your learning with us on Seesaw. The app is a chance for us to share your learning together. It can be your school learning or any learning that you are particularly enjoying at home. We love looking at Seesaw during the day and recording messages for you...and you can record messages for us too!

Like last week, we have uploaded the learning for the week. We hope you are finding the daily visual timetable useful. We haven't put timings on the timetable as we know that all children work at a different pace and that you might need a shorter or longer time to practice a skill depending on where you are on the learning line. Little and often is the key so practicing your common exception word spelling or mental maths or reading for 10 minutes every day will make such a difference. Which will hopefully leave you with lots of time in the day to independently enjoy and explore your own interests like art, sport, spending time with family, cooking, creating, being imaginative, being outside...all the things that are so important for our health and happiness.

This week there are a few important things to share with you:

  • Dr D is going to start sharing a story with you on a Friday morning. A zoom link will be sent to you (along with the live lesson links) so you can join our Year Two story time at 9:30.
  • On Friday we have a science experiment for you to carry out at home. You will need cress seeds for this investigation. We have put envelopes containing cress seed in the school entrance. You can come and collect your envelope at anytime during the week.
  • Throughout the week there will be recorded lessons / activities uploaded to the School Video section of the website. Look out for PE challenges from Mr Faulkner, Music and singing with Mrs Waring Green and an assembly from Mrs Jones.
  • Over the next two weeks we will be exploring a longer text in our English sessions (Alice in Wonderland). During the live lessons, we will be sharing parts of the story to help you develop certain skills. We won't however be reading the whole story. So that you can enjoy the sections we miss out, we have included a link to an audio version that you can listen to at home. You will find the link under 'Tuesday'.

We miss you all very much but we are looking forward to seeing you and hearing from you virtually next week,

Mrs Wilson, Dr D and Miss Riley

This week we would like you to continue to practice your quick recall of number bonds to 10 and then 20. If you need more time to secure this skill then please use the resources shared last week. If you are feeling confident and ready, you could start to learn your number bonds to 100. We have included a domino game for you to play to practice these number bonds.
