Spring One Week Five

Hi Year Two,

This week is 'Children's Mental Health' week. Just before Christmas, we learnt about the importance of keeping our bodies healthy by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, regular exercise and keeping clean. Our mind is part of our bodies and it is so, so important that we explore strategies to help keep our minds healthy, especially when things are tricky or feel difficult.

This year's theme is 'Express Yourself' and we have lots of things for you to do this week linked to this idea. We have a mindfulness challenge for you to try every day, sessions for you to think about how you are feeling and the ways in which you can express how you are feeling. There will be time in the week for you to be creative and express yourself and your imagination. And on Friday we would love for you to 'Dress to Express' and come to our live story session on Friday morning at 9:30, dressed in a way that expresses your personality! We cannot wait to see your outfits!

Don't forget this week that there is a slight change to the live lessons. We will not be running our live lessons on Monday this week. Instead, our English live lessons will be at 9:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and our Maths live lessons will be a 14:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

We are so looking forward to this week's learning and we can't wait to see everything that you are enjoying and learning about at home!

Take care,

Mrs Wilson, Dr D and Miss Riley

PS - there are a lot of resources for Monday, but that is because we have uploaded some documents that can be used all week e.g. race track game, emotion game, 5 day mindful challenge, common exception words, etc.

When starting to learn about symmetry, you may want to create some butterfly paintings to explore how both sides are exactly the same.

In the afternoon you will be learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. You could go outside or on a walk to identify the evergreen and deciduous trees in your local area...they are quite easy to tell apart at the moment as all the deciduous trees have lost their leaves!

COME DRESSED TO EXPRESS AND BE READY TO SHOW OFF YOUR OUTFITS!

We would love to create a photo display of all of you 'Dressed to Express', for you to see when you come back to school. Could you take a photo of yourself dressed to express and upload it to Seesaw (you could also hold the poster you made on Wednesday). We can then download it at school and create our photo wall ready for you.
